Crew
Invite friends and decide who can use your doors, ships, and buildings.
Invite or join a crew
You start as the Captain of your own crew. Open your inventory with Tab and select Crew. Choose Invite to Crew, enter the player’s name, and send the invite. The other player accepts or declines it in their Crew panel.
The Captain can invite players. A First Mate needs Invite Access. On faction servers, players must belong to the same faction to join a crew. Invitations can be temporarily limited after repeated invites or declines.
Accepting another crew’s invitation leaves your current crew. If you are Captain of a crew with other members, the game asks you to confirm dissolving it first.
Captain, First Mate & Sailor
| Rank | Role |
|---|---|
| Captain | Promotes and demotes First Mates, manages crew permissions, and removes members. |
| First Mate | Can manage lower-ranked Sailors’ access. Inviting and kicking need their own permission grants; a First Mate can only kick Sailors. |
| Sailor | Uses the access granted by the crew. New members start with Build Access; door, ship, retrieval, and management access are separate. |
Select a member’s name to open their controls. Only the Captain can change ranks. Member controls also include a choice of nametag colors.
Member permissions
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Door Access | Open crew-owned doors and gates. Keep those doors closed when you leave. |
| Ship Access | Take the helm of crew ships. This does not give ownership of the ship. |
| Build Access | Place normal buildables inside crew flagpole zones. Enabled for new members by default. |
| Build Retrieval | Retrieve eligible crew buildables, including Beds and Bed Rolls, using their normal hammer or tool-free rules. Full health is required. Ship bottling is separate. |
| Invite Access | Let a First Mate invite new crew members. |
| Kick | Let a First Mate remove Sailors. The Captain cannot be kicked. |
Beds & Bed Rolls
Beds and Bed Rolls can be picked up by their owner, the Captain of the owner’s crew, or a member of that crew with Build Retrieval permission. The bed must be at full health. Use empty hands or a Hammer, aim at the bed, and hold right-click until pickup finishes. Leave room in your inventory.
Picking it up removes that spawn point. Placing it again automatically assigns it to the person who places it; they can then reassign it to an online crew member.
Bed pickup & spawn points →Ship Bottling & Place Flagpoles switches
These switches appear in the crew panel, but do not currently change those actions. Only the player who placed a ship can bottle it. The Place Flagpoles switch does not currently impose an additional placement restriction.
Only give access to people you trust. Crew membership does not lock your chests: anyone who reaches a chest can take its contents.
Doors, storage & flagpoles →Leave or remove a member
Select your own row and choose Leave Crew if you are a First Mate or Sailor. Captains can select another member and choose Kick. First Mates need kick permission and can only remove Sailors. Confirm the action in the dialog.
Leaving or being removed ends that crew’s access grants. Review access before sharing a base or ship.
